Pestana Leilões is a specialized auction company offering a wide range of products and services to its users. As the UX/UI Designer, I was responsible for enhancing the user experience on the Lot page and within the photo gallery, ensuring a more organized and intuitive interface. The goal was to develop clear, efficient navigation solutions that improve overall usability for the platform’s visitors.
Problem
The Lot page suffered from disproportionate layouts of images and videos, resulting in a visually inconsistent and disorganized experience. In the photo gallery, all images were displayed randomly, making it hard for users to locate specific pictures and causing confusion. These issues negatively impacted both the platform’s usability and its perceived professionalism.

Project Scope
Immersion: Conducted desk research and benchmarking to understand industry best practices, and mapped out the main use cases involving the viewing of lot images and videos.
UX Writing: Established a clear, concise navigation structure for the photo gallery.
UX/UI Design: Developed wireframes and prototypes to validate the new solutions.
Development & Testing: Collaborated with Front-end and Back-end teams to implement and validate the improvements.
Solution
To address the identified issues, I implemented enhancements for both the Lot page and the photo gallery. On the Lot page, I analyzed user scenarios that led to disproportionate image and video displays.
Image/Video Layout on the Lot Page:
- After a thorough review of all scenarios, I worked with developers to create business rules for the consistent display of images and videos.
Photo Gallery:
- Categorization: Organized images into logical groups, making it easier for users to search and navigate.
- Navigation Menu: Introduced a menu allowing users to quickly access desired categories, thus optimizing the gallery experience.

Outcome
The solutions implemented resulted in a more efficient user interface. Categorizing images and adding a navigation menu in the photo gallery significantly reduced the time required to find specific images, while responsive adjustments to images and videos on the Lot page ensured a more consistent visual experience. Positive user feedback also reflected an improved understanding and smoother navigation across the platform.
